Playing football at the highest level has taught me a lot about athletes and athleticism. In today's game speed kills, so training the proper muscles to improve your in game speed is key! In order to get faster we need to train our muscles to move faster. Plyometric training is a great way to do so.
Athletes that can benefit from plyometric drills are athletes who need to generate a quick burst of maximum force, such as movements required in football, basketball, hockey, soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, track and field, tennis, baseball, softball, volleyball and pretty much every major sport.
Plyometric training focuses on learning to move from a muscle extension, to a contraction in a rapid or "explosive" manner. Utilizing plyometric exercises is a great way to build explosive power and does an even better job when combined with other types of training methods.
